Simple acupressure points for Constipation- SJ6

There are several acupressure points one can leverage, to help with constipation

Lets look at SJ6- full form of San Jiao 6 accupressure point. Its on the forearm, just above the wrist (with your hand facing down)

This point is used to relieve constipation caused due to stagnation and heat in the body. It helps to activate the large and small intestines, kidneys and bladder.

This meridian regulates the water passages of your body

How to identify the point: Place four fingers on the back of the hand, starting at the wrist joint.

The point in the centre of your forearm just after the four finger width is where the SJ6 point is. Press deeply. If it hurts in a “good” way, you are on the right spot.

If you cannot feel anything much, you can move a centimetre at a time towards your elbow. Keep moving till you find the spot of ‘good hurt’. It should not need more than 1-2 cm of movement, in all probability.

Method: Press deeply and hold for 3-5 min. You can repeat it 2-3 times a day. You can also do circular motions on the spot. This spot is possible to access on both arms, so give the attention to both arms for a few min each.

If you get fatigued, ask a partner or a friend to help you hold down the spot 😊

After 3-5 days you should observe an improvement in your constipation. If not, other acupressure points may work better for you. All of us have different bodies.
